Anonymous asked: please explain in detail your last ouija experience

TRIGGER WARNING: GHOSTS, SPIRITS, PARANORMAL, AFTERLIFE, SUPERNATURAL, ETC. ANYONE WHO DOESN’T WANT TO READ ABOUT THAT KIND OF STUFF, STOP READING NOW.

This was actually my very first Ouija experience. I went out and bought a Ouija board with my friend Nery. I had a Guadalupe candle in my house, so I went to Publix and bought a Seven African Powers candle and two generic white candles in jars. White candles are supposed to offer protection against malevolent spirits. We went back to my house, waited a little bit, turned off all the lights except the dim one by my front door, and sat opposite each other at my dining room table. We set up the board and the planchette and lit the candles. I put the Seven African Powers candle on the left side of the board, the Guadalupe candle on the right, and a white candle on either side next to them. I wanted to be as cautious as possible, so I insisted we say an opening prayer before making contact. Neither of us are Christian or have any particular deity to whom we pray, so I simply asked the forces of the universe to make sure no malevolent spirits or demons contacted us. We each touched the planchette with both index fingers and put it in the center of the board.

I asked, “Is there anyone there?” The planchette stayed still for about a minute, then spelled out “TUCK”. I asked, “Is your name Tuck?” It stayed still, then went to “YES”. I asked if it was okay if we talked to it for a little while, and it said “YES” again. I asked how old Tuck was, and it brought us down to the number 6. I asked where Tuck was from, and he brought us up to the letter “F”, then stayed there on that letter. Then I told Nery to keep his hands on the planchette, and I took mine off. I asked if it knew my mother’s name, and it didn’t move. I figured maybe it needed both of our energy to work, since his answers were taking a while even when both of our hands were on the planchette, so I put my fingers back on it. Nery asked if it knew his mother’s name, and it stayed put for a bit, then traveled to “NO”. At this point, I thought maybe we were bothering Tuck, so I asked if we were. It hovered off of “NO”, but then went back to “NO.”

I then asked Tuck how he died. He spelled out the word “TREE”. I asked if his death involved a tree, and he moved to “YES”. Nery asked how old he was when that happened, and he again moved to the number 6. I said, “I’m sorry that happened to you.” Tuck stayed still for a moment, then spelled the word “FUNERAL”. Nery and I looked up each other at that point tensely.

THIS IS WHEN THINGS STARTED ACTUALLY GETTING WEIRD. Someone had told me about a dream they had had that very morning that I had been trampled to death by horses. Nery did not know that story. I made sure my fingers were loose on the planchette so it could travel more freely in any direction Tuck wanted, and I asked, “What animal should I be most afraid of?” Tuck spelled, “HORSE”. As soon as it got to the letter H, I started getting a little uneasy, and when it spelled “HORSE”, I told Nery we had to stop. I thanked Tuck for spending time with us and talking to us, thanked him for his answers, and said I hoped his soul could be at peace. We moved the planchette over “GOODBYE”, turned it around, and placed it back in the center of the board. I said a closing prayer thanking the universe for its protection, blew out the candles, took the planchette off the board, and turned the board over so the spiritual energy could dissipate.

Nery was confused as to why I ended the session, so I told him the story about the dream about my being trampled to death by horses, and he was weirded out. He also paid close attention to my dog Charlie the entire time, knowing that dogs often have a closer link to the spirit world than humans do. When we first made contact, Charlie was acting a strangely, pacing and staring at the front door and looking at the table where we were conducting the session, but once we had begun our conversation with Tuck, Charlie calmed down and even went into his cage and went to sleep. If Tuck was indeed present and Charlie perceived him, being a 6-year-old boy, he might have been a calming presence for Charlie. I realize that his behavior could have just been a coincidence, but it was particularly curious because normally the only circumstance under which Charlie acts up in that way is if someone is at the door.

Nery is also a moderate insomniac, and has been through the seven years I’ve known him. He’s always awake at bizarre times of night and the one time I ever saw him sleep was for about two minutes nodding off on my couch, and when I went to take a picture of him he snapped awake as I hit the button. After our Ouija contact, he remarked that he felt extremely drained emotionally and physically from the whole thing, and a few minutes later he was asleep soundly on my couch. I said his name several times and he didn’t budge. He was asleep for roughly an hour, and only woke up when I started making loud noises in the process of putting Charlie to bed.

So I realize that paint on the wall didn’t peel and books and crosses didn’t fly around the room, but all the small subtleties of the experience were enough to be a bit unsettling. I look forward to doing it again sometime soon.

Thanks for asking.
